The City of Oakland, California has taken the Fab City pledge in 2018. We bring with us unique assets which will be offered to the Fab City community. We also bring challenges that we believe must be addressed by our collaboration. - Jose Corona, Director of Strategic Partnerships in the office of Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, will lead this conversation - Cynthia Correia of Laney Community College will represent Laney College Fab Lab. This lab is a key partner in the formation of Oakland Fab City working group, and a regional Fab Lab hub. - Sal Bednarz of Elevator Works will discuss entrepreneurship and small business as relates to Fab Labs and Fab City - Other delegation members TBD Oakland includes several Fab Labs, most of which are in education. Outside this Fab Lab membership, there are several affiliated or related facilities which, though not Fab Labs, are part of our local and regional community. These facilities span R&D,  hacker communities, artist collectives, and more. Our delegation represents City government, local education, entrepreneurship, and other sectors (members will be finalized by end of June). We will share our excitement to be part of this commitment and network, and ask for resources and partnerships which create mutual benefit within the Fab City community.
