There is hope. Globally, we must support every initiative that is working to change the present paradigm. Numerous new development models consolidate or propose ways to shift the global mindset. The possibilities presented by technologies such as blockchain or biomaterial are shaping our future. But getting back to basics with a low-tech approach is also key for resilient cities. A future which merges these two seemingly disparate approaches is possible and the Fab City Collective is developing a research environment to explore these visions. By sharing, iterating, exploring, producing, creating, debating existing and actualised initiatives in this field, Fab City is defining what is possible for the future of not just our cities, but of our society.

Sub-session: Beyond earth exploration and its impact

Planet earth is our spaceship, we are passengers who share living systems with other species. It is a fact that we will continue exploring the universe, and it will have a huge impact on how we live on earth.

Moderator: Jose Luis de Vicente

Keynote :
  • Danielle Wood (MIT Media Lab - Space Enabled) (inclusive space technologies - if we are going to space we need to create social and environmental impact with those technologies on earth)

Conversation:
  • Indy Johar (Dark Matter Labs) (we need to think about huge systems change in all levels)
  • Jakob Lange (BIG Architects) (we are going to space, and we are working on building a city on Mars, and we are doing a Mars Museum in Dubai)
